Sheffield University Photographic Society is open to anyone with an interest in the art of photography and who wants to share their skills or learn more.
We are a very welcoming and relaxed society, and people are welcome just to turn up to meetings/socials to find out more.
Owning an expensive camera is not necessary, nor do you need to have in-depth technical knowledge or extensive photographic experience and, whilst the above criteria may help, anyone is welcome, so long as they have an interest in and enthusiasm for photography.
We regularly hold meetings on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 pm. Meetings might involve a talk from the committee or a professional, members presenting photos on a given theme, or just discussing what people want from the society.
The society also organises trips and socials at weekends, including camera pub crawls, photomarathons, workshops, and photowalks around Sheffield, the Peak District, and nearby cities (such as Manchester and York).
We aim to host an exhibition at the end of the academic year, highlighting our events and work from our members, including photo competition winners.
Check out the events page for details on upcoming and past events.
