About us
Sheffield University Photography Society is open to anyone with an interest in the art of photography and who wants to share their skills or learn more.
We are a very welcoming and relaxed society, and people are welcome just to turn up to meetings/socials to find out more.
Owning an expensive camera is not necessary, nor do you need to have in-depth technical knowledge or extensive photographic experience – whilst the above criteria may help, anyone is welcome, so long as they have an interest in and enthusiasm for photography.
We hold society meetings on Thursday evenings (7.15pm) fortnightly. Meetings might involve a talk from a member of the society or a professional, members presenting photos on a given theme or just discussing what people want from the society.
The society also organises trips and socials in the intervening weeks, and in the past we have been to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the industrial areas of Sheffield, the Peak district, to the dog races and bowling. There is also an annual exhibition at the end of every academic year. Check out the events page for details on upcoming and past events.
